Artist Statement

 

My work involves a combination of traditional art, human anatomy, portraiture, digital art and fantasy creatures. As an artist, the focal point for my art is strongly on the character design and personality development of these characters. I believe it is important to be able to create a character that can relate to the viewer. It doesn’t, necessarily have to be by appearance or by characteristics, but often by the way they handle the restrictions or hardships they are faced with in order to grow. I personally believe graphic and cartoon characters can have a positive effect on people. Whether it inspires them to pick up a sketch book and start designing their very own characters whether, or that specific character is able to help a person face the difficult time, it is important to me that the character means something to someone.
